The M4 and M4 Pro Mac mini desktop computers are smaller than their predecessors, but they still take up space on desks. That is, unless you come up with a clever way to hide them while keeping them fully functional. In today’s featured setup, which also includes a MacBook Pro under an overarching external display, the user mounts the mini under the desk. And under-desk mount is the best way to hide your computer.

Redditor MoneyForSoju showcased the dual-computer setup with unusually high monitor placement in a post entitled “Rocking a 14-inch MBP for work and an M4 Mac Mini for personal use.” As you can see in the photograph, the external display rides high on a monitor arm. It’s a 34-inch BenQ 4K ultra-wide display mounted on an ErGear monitor arm that can handle up to a 4-inch screen. A 14-inch MacBook Pro on the desk and an M4 Mac mini mounted under the desk drive the external display.
That’s probably the best way to hide a computer, by the way. The Mac mini sits securely under there, out of sight and out of mind — and not taking up any desktop space — while receiving plenty of airflow. Soju — apparently so named for a rice-based liquor popular in Korea and elsewhere in Asia — mentioned they bought an inexpensive under-desk mount made for M4 Mac mini desktop computers on Amazon. You can find it and the rest of the setup’s gear in the list of links below.
One commenter wondered about how Soju switches between computers — a common question in posts about any multi-computer setup.
“How do you switch the input from laptop to Mac mini and back?” they asked. “This is my biggest pain point with a similar setup.”
“I just unplug my laptop when I’m done and move it out of the way!” Soju replied. “But my monitor also has a toggle on the back so I can switch between inputs.”
