Meet Jeetendra's heroine, who worked with Dharmendra, Shashi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, one mistake ruined her career; She is...

This beautiful actress of the 1970s won hearts with her innocence and expressive eyes. She often charmed her co-stars with her graceful presence. Starting her career in modelling, she made her film debut opposite Sunil Dutt in Man Ka Meet. It was Nargis who helped groom and guide her early in her career. In 1971, she delivered one of her best performances alongside Rajesh Khanna in Mehboob Ki Mehndi.

We’re talking about actress Leena Chandavarkar, who also shared the screen with legendary actors like Dilip Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Jeetendra, and Sanjeev Kumar. But her jodi became a hit with Jeetendra. Their films were Humjoli, Maa Behan Aur Biwi and Rakhwala.

Leena Chandavarkar’s two marriages

Leena had an arranged marriage to her first husband, Siddharth Bandodkar, son of Dayanand Bandodkar, the first Chief Minister of Goa, Daman and Diu. Siddharth died from an accidental gunshot wound, a few days into the marriage, leaving Leena a widow at age 25. In 1980, she married Kishore Kumar, they had a son Sumeet. In 1987, Kishore Kumar died, leaving Leena once again a widow at 37.

Leena Chandavarkar’s career was ruined because of one mistake

At the peak of her career, Leena Chandavarkar chose some films that flopped and didn’t suit her image. In the early phase of her career, she was perfect for roles portraying innocent, simple, and homely girls. However, her shift towards more glamorous and carefree characters didn’t resonate with her fans. Although she continued receiving film offers, she gradually distanced herself from the industry. Her last film was in 1989, Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein where she played the role of Leena Rai.

By the 1980s, new faces had taken over Bollywood, and Leena’s name slowly faded from the spotlight.
